Young Life Work Crew Program

Volunteer High School Program

Work Crew is Young Life's volunteer discipleship experience for individuals in high school. To be eligible you must have completed one year of high school and complete your local Young Life Area's work crew training course.

The Work Crew program centers around non-verbal and verbal witness of Christ in their lives, service to those around them, community living, and a deepening Christian spiritual life through discipleship. The purpose is to prepare a place for campers to have space to encounter the person of Jesus. Each work crew session is under one month long.

The work crew serve the campers in a variety of ways to communicate the Gospel in non-verbal witness: like dining hall servers, grounds crew, and housekeeping.

More information can be found on the Young Life website.

All non-Canadian citizens serving on Work Crew will need to have a valid passport and nothing hindering them from entering a foreign country (please note that even a misdemeanor in someone's past, even what might seem like a distant past or a minor event, will be possible cause for refusal of entry into Canada by border officials, which is out of Young Life or Malibu's control).

How do I apply for Work Crew?
To apply, ask your local Young Life staff for an invitation link to the online application and what training opportunities there are.
  • Talk to your local Young Life leader about work crew training and how to apply.
  • All work crew applicants must complete work crew training in their local area.
Please note that Malibu does not select who gets a spot on Work Crew and who does not. Placements are made by Young Life field staff. If you have questions about the selection process, please contact your local Young Life Area Director or staff person (find a Young Life Club near you), or visit the Young Life website.
